Artwork continues to generate strong response
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions.
I apologize I have been a little tardy with updating my blog but things have been a little crazy here lately. My artworks, New World Order and Old Glory which are on exhibit in the Lincoln Road storefront window of the ArtCenter South Florida's 810 building continue to draw an incredible response. I receive phone calls and emails from people wanting to know about these pieces and see other artworks. However, all good things must come to an end as the window will come down on February 6th, so you just have one more week to see them on Lincoln Road.
Also my window in the 74th Street and Collins Avenue Walgreens came down last Monday. Again there the work drew attention, and I received a good response. All HOPE is not lost as it and the PROGRESS serigraphs are on exhibit in the 200 windows of the ArtCenter's 924 Lincoln Road building. Incredibly even from their perch in the window on the second floor, people are taking pictures with their cell phones and contacting me about the prints.
Besides keeping up with all the inquiries as well as installing and de-installing my artwork in various venues, I am developing and working on a number of new pieces. I have ideas for several new works, and I am in the process of making them. In addition to all this, I am also working on a commission that I am hoping will be finished in the next few weeks. So it has been busy to say the least. I am going to eat my Wheaties in order to keep up with it all.
I trust this finds you well.
Warm regards,
Steven
Art stops pedestrians on Lincoln Road
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions.
2012 has gotten off to a great start. I have two new pieces on display in one of the main storefront windows in the ArtCenter South Florida located at 810 Lincoln Road. The works are getting a tremendous response with people stopping literally in their tracks to come and see the work. So at any given time there is a crowd of people stopping to look at the work and see from what it is made. As this is the first real exhibition of this new body of work, I am very happy with the public response.
In addition to the display on Lincoln Road, I also have work on exhibit in the storefront windows of Walgreens on 74th Street and Collins in Miami Beach that will be up through the mid of January. As it might sound odd to have work displayed in the windows of Walgreens, the ArtCenter has an agreement with the drug store to display their artist's work in their storefronts throughout Miami Beach.
As for this week, I will be busy in the studio making new work and brainstorming ideas. I trust this finds you well and hope the new year is off to a good start for you!
Best,
Steven
Happy New Year!!!
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions.
Happy New Year! May 2012 bring you much joy and prosperity! As for myself, I have been so busy since ArtBasel Miami Beach until now that I have not found the time to update the blog. To get everyone back up to speed, I will begin where I last left off.
ArtBasel was amazing! I saw a lot of great artwork; I was able to spend time with a number of friends from around the world who I have not seen in some time; I met and made a number of new contacts and friends; and my work was well received where it was on exhibit at the Pulse Art Fair and the ArtCenter's 800 Gallery. When it was all over, I had the feeling of coming back from a long vacation. ArtBasel had been such an intense period of art, openings, dinners, parties, and good conversation, that I had to remember where I had left off. So after the fair, I had to catch up on all the things that had gone neglected during the week of ArtBasel. In addition, I had to send off a number of pieces as well as complete several commissions before Christmas. So getting the work made, framed, crated, and sent off brought me to the holidays. Also I had the opportunity to exhibit my work in the store front windows of Walgreens on 74th Street and Collins Avenue in Miami Beach which will be on view till mid January.
As for the holidays, I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my family who live a few hours North of Miami. This year all of my siblings were together except one, so it was nice to see and catch up with everyone. I then returned to Miami and have been busy making new pieces and attending holiday parties up until the New Year.
Already 2012 is going to be a busy year. My work that is currently on exhibit in a group exhibition at the 800 Gallery on Lincoln Road is coming down this week. Afterwards, I will then have new pieces showcased in the premiere ArtCenter store front window located at 810 Lincoln Road. So the busy pace will continue into January.
I trust this finds you well and wish you all the very best in 2012!
Warm regards,
Steven
Artwork at Pulse Art Fair and ArtCenter 800 Gallery
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions.
I am little behind with updating my blog as things are starting to get hectic with so much to do before next week when ArtBasel Miami Beach kicks off. The art world event is the largest in North America, and I would venture to say in the world with not only the main fair but also the dozen or so other satellite fairs and hundreds of events that take place at the same time. I will be participating this year by having my work presented at Pulse Art Fair and in a resident artist group show at the the ArtCenter South Florida's 800 Gallery. At both venues, I will have new work on exhibit that I have just made and has never been shown before. In addition, I will have more fresh work on display at my new studio located at 924 Lincoln Road, #107. If you will be in town for the fair and would like a private viewing, please contact me to set up an appointment.
As for the show in New York at the Bertrand Delacroix Gallery's new Brooklyn space at 314 Atlantic Avenue, it is going well. The opening party that was on Saturday, November 12th was well attended and the $100 U.S. Flag received a lot of attention. The show features works by such artists as Ron Agam, Matthew Benedict, Markus Bradley, Nellie Davis, Alex Dodge, David Ellis, Richard Estes, Torben Giehler, Robert Indiana, Kaws, Paul Pope, Kate Shepherd, Allison Smith, Pat Steir , Ian Trask, John Wesley, Sue Williams and Russell Young.
I am going to keep this week's post short as I have much to do to get ready, but thanks for stopping by. I look forward to seeing you if you will be in Miami for the big event. Until then, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Best,
Steven
Works in NYC and Miami on exhibit this week
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions.
This week you can find my work on exhibit in New York and Miami. The $100 U.S. Flag print on Coventry rag paper is part of a group show at the Bertrand Delacroix Gallery's new Brooklyn space at 314 Atlantic Avenue. The opening party is this Saturday, November 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. and will feature print works by such artists as Ron Agam, Matthew Benedict, Markus Bradley, Nellie Davis, Alex Dodge, David Ellis, Richard Estes, Torben Giehler, Robert Indiana, Kaws, Paul Pope, Kate Shepherd, Allison Smith, Pat Steir , Ian Trask, John Wesley, Sue Williams and Russell Young. If the Big Apple is not in your plans and instead you find yourself on the beach in the Magic City, the HOPE, PROGRESS, and Money Laundering prints will be on display in the 800 Lincoln Road window from November 9th to 14th. If you would like further information on either upcoming shows, please contact me.
This week in the studio, I have been dealing with more of the business end of things by getting a number of works photographed and taking care of paperwork. I am still preparing for ArtBasel Miami Beach which is only 4 weeks away. I am anticipating I will have a few studio visits during that week, so I want to have as many new works as possible ready. This week will entail applying for an upcoming show during the Basel Show week and continue working in the studio. I hope to even have some new images published to the website soon.
Thanks for stopping by,
Steven
