New German Exhibition & European Adventure
Welcome to www.StevenGagnon.com where you can learn more about my artwork, accomplishments, news, and upcoming exhibitions. As I attempt to updated the blog weekly, it is your best way to find out what is happening in the studio.
My work is currently in a group show at Galerie Burkhard Eikelmann in Düsseldorf, Germany. The exhibition entitled "News on Paper" runs until June 15th and features many well-known artists, including John Baldessari, Georg Baselitz, Louise Bourgeois, Christo, Jasper Jones, Alex Katz, Neo Rauch, Gerhard Richter, and Andy Warhol. Also this week, I will be leaving for Europe to check out the LOOP Video Art Fair in Barcelona and ArtBasel in Switzerland. Both fairs are international in scope, so I am excited to see what my contemporaries are doing in other parts of the world.
As for other news, my last exhibition of "Around the World in a NYC Taxi" was well received in April at ArtCologne, one of the oldest and largest art fairs. The project was mentioned and appeared in the online art journal, ArtNet.com's review of the fair. If you were unable to see the taxi project in person, you can go to YouTube, where I have posted short video clips of all three video sculptures from the exhibitions I have had in Berlin, Miami, and New York City.
My interview with a3tv during ArtBasel Miami Beach about the Time Machine is still online. You can view it here. I also have a new billboard up in the night club district in Miami sponsored by Premier Outdoor Media Inc. in addition to the one that is up in the Design District. The 30 by 20 foot billboard displays my Trophy Wife sculpture. As well, my Camouflage series was published in the Fall 2006 literary journal of the Henry Miller library, Ping-Pong. All four works from the series that were shown at the Brogan Museum of Science and Art in Tallahassee, FL are featured in this inaugural edition of the publication.
