NYC show closes February 19th
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions.
This past week has been filled with meetings, errands, and making time to develop ideas for new works. I began experimenting to develop a new piece but the initial attempts failed. So it is back to the drawing board to try a different approach. I am hoping to have the time this week to work on a solution.
However the highlight of the week was attending the Greene Lecture series at Florida International University where Christo spoke. Due to lack of proper signage and poor directions from the Frost Art Museum, I ended up at President Lech Walesa's lecture instead. Although I missed the majority of the lecture, I was able to meet Christo after the talk to congratulate him on his work and tell him what an inspiration he has been to me. It was such a joy to finally meet the person who has been an example to overcoming nearly insurmountable obstacles to realize great projects.
Also this is the last week to see Printer's Proof at the Bertrand Delacroix Gallery located at 535 West 25th Street which closes on February 19th. The exhibition that surveys 10 years of master printer, Luther Davis's work at Axelle Editions features the Esso Oil Can Print and the $100 U.S. Flag along with works by Carl Fudge, KAWS, Matthew Brennon, Robert Indiana, Pat Steir, Sue Williams, Cory Arcangel, and Richard Estes among others.
I look forward to be announcing future exhibitions soon, but in the meantime, I will be locked away in the studio producing new work.
