NYC and Rome

I have been traveling so I have not been able to update the website as often as I would like. I left Friday to NYC and spent the weekend there. While in NYC, I began work on a new video project as well as a photo series. The photo series began earlier this summer but it was only until now that I had time to finish it. After a busy weekend in the Big Apple, I flew to Rome and arrived Tuesday in the late afternoon. It is my third trip to the eternal city, and I am always amazed by the sites here. It is truly beautiful. However, my trip is not all fun and games. I am actually here to work and my stay here is part of my photo series that I plan to exhibit in December during ArtBasel. I have been able to take a couple of decent shots out of the hundreds I have taken. I am forever grateful to the advances in digital photography for allowing this to happen. After Rome, I have one more stop to make in another famous Italian city that I will reveal later (I have to give you some reason to check this blog). Once I get back to the States, it is going to be non-stop until December to get everything that I have to get done in time for ArtBasel.
Before I left on my worldwind tour, I have been helping an alternative art space based in Berlin, Germany to set up a project in Miami during ArtBasel Miami Beach. FIT (Freie International Tankstella which is German for "Free International Gas Station") is coming to Miami. The project start by Dida Zende transforms abandon gas stations that once sold hydro-carbon based energy into filling stations that provide creative energy. Dida will be in Miami for the next week finalizing the details of two locations that he will convert into FIT stations for December. I have been assisting him as a location scout, investigator to track down owners of properties, and as a local contact person.
As for other news, I currently have the Esso Oil Can Print on exhibit at the Art Car Museum in Houston, TX. The show will run through mid-November.

On a somber note, today I received news that Robert Flynn, a former studio mate from ArtCenter South Florida past away. He died of a heart attack at age 39. I am truly sad to hear of his passing and know he is talking art and exchanging painting techniques with all the great masters throughout the history of art he admired.
