Border Cruiser NewTimes article out Feb. 14th

The Border Cruiser was well received when it patrolled the streets of Wynwood on February 9th. At one point, I parked the car in front of PanAmerican Art Projects to see the closing of Carolina Sardi's exhibition. While there I met the owner of the gallery and she remarked, "People are coming up to me and telling me, 'you have a great car installation outside.' I have to tell them, it is not from the gallery." Be on the lookout for an article about the Border Cruiser to come out in the Miami NewTimes this Thursday, February 14th. It should prove interesting.
As for what I have been up to this past week, I have been diligently working on a painting commission. It is taking me longer than I anticipated and it may be not until the end of this week before I am finished. As soon as it is done, I will begin on my next endeavor that will incorporate materials that I have not worked with in the past. I am excited to see the results. Often when one explores unfamiliar territory, it takes a little time before one finds his way.
As for more exciting news, the ArtCar Museum in Houston, TX has invited me to present my driving video sculpture, the "Border Cruiser" as part of the group exhibition, ONLY YESTERDAY during the city’s Twelfth International Fotofest Biennial. My work will be shown with the photography of Rania Matar, Marilyn Davenport, Ezekiel Solis, and a video by David Purdie. The show runs from March 8th until April 27th, 2008.
I have also posted to the website images from the photo series I shot this past Summer and Fall in New York City, Paris, Venice, and Rome of illegal immigrants who sell souvenirs and imitation merchandise to visiting tourists. The selection of images that I uploaded are just a sampling from the series as many cannot be posted on the web to protect the identity of those who were photographed. In addition, I have recently added two interviews that I did with a3tv to my YouTube channel. So if you have not had the opportunity to see them, please check them out. If you noticed the nice pictures of the Border Cruiser on the site, they are the work of Simon Hare who shot the Border Cruiser at various locations in Miami. Thanks again, Simon!
