House hunting, slow progress, and medieval art
Although I did work on the bullet shell casing artwork, I have been distracted with finding an apartment. There is a well founded rumor that the place where I am living will soon be converted into a hotel. It is estimated that this will probably happen in about 6 months, so I am actively trying to find a new place to call home before things get desperate. The home search has been eating into my time to focus on the piece and move forward, although I have been able to work at night and make some progress. The bullet shell project is tedious and time consuming because I have to solder each bullet shell to each other for the work take form and stay together. However, all the time and effort will pay off when the piece is finally done.
The highlight of my week was to visit the American International Fine Art Fair in West Palm Beach. Previous shows have been like going to a museum where are the objects are for sale. The fair attracts the top dealers for antiquities, rare books, jewelry, and art. However this year, the event was not as good. The fair was smaller and the items on view were not as impressive. Although, I must admit I did fall in love with a number of medieval illuminations and a Albrecht Dürer etching. It is amazing to think these pieces of paper have survived all these centuries through wars, fires, and famines and are still around to be enjoyed. Although the show was not as impressive as prior years, it was still uplifting to see.
This week I look forward to focus more on my bullet shell artwork and hopefully make good progress on it. In the meantime, I wish you all the best and trust this finds you well.
