New $100 Bill Edition and exhibition in Berlin
Welcome to StevenGagnon.com, the best way to keep up with all of my artistic activities, news, and upcoming exhibitions. I have published a new edition! The work is a large image of a $100 bill that was printed on gold leaf linen canvas and measures roughly 27 x 62 inches. I have also made another work using the $100 bill image on stainless steel that also falls in this same size. I hope to receive the works by this Friday and have images posted on my website in the next couple of weeks.
The days are quickly passing through my hands like grains of sand as I feverishly work in developing and creating new work. ArtBasel Miami Beach is just around the corner and I am busy making new pieces to show when the art world comes to Miami. So currently, I am working to realize a number of new paintings. I have ideas for 5 or 6 works. This is good as it looks like I will be showing works in Berlin as well as the Miami cultural extravaganza. At the end of the month Galerie Burkhard Eikelmann will be exhibiting my work in Germany at the Berliner Liste Art Fair opening on Thursday, October 30th and running through November 2nd. My cross country trip in the Border Cruiser to present the project at both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions was productive and gave broader exposure of the project to many more people. During the Democratic National Convention, the project was displayed in front of Buffalo Exchange, the Museo de Arte Latin Americas, and driven around the streets of Denver. In fact, Senator John Kerry had to do a double take when he saw the car.
While in Denver, the car was written up in The Rocky Mountain News, Univision Online, Yahoo News, the Westword blog, and the Denver Post calender. It was also written up in The Twin Cities Daily Planet, The Minneasota Independent, the Twin Cities IndyMedia, and the Americans for Legal Immigration Forum.
The project was also the focus of a radio interview with journalist, Lakshmi Singh of "Latino USA" and broadcasted nationally on NPR.
Now that the excitement of the conventions are over and I am back home safely, I am going to hunker down in the studio and get to work. If you need to reach me, please send me an e-mail or call.
