Overcoming illness, tropical storms, and taxes
I have been a bit delinquent with updating my blog the past few weeks. My days have been preoccupied with creating new work, shipping out pieces, and taking care of the usual daily routine. Due to the summer, I have been working late into the night to avoid the heat of the day. This schedule has thrown off my sleep pattern, and I recently got a sinus infection which I attribute to lack of proper rest. One thing about getting sick, it makes you slow down and recuperate. So for the past few days, I have been feeling miserable but sleeping more. So I spent the majority of the time in bed as Tropical Storm Isaac has passed by.
I am also taking care of a number of tasks that I don't enjoy and have been putting off. The most pressing being my 2011 taxes. I filed for an extension so I am fine in this regard, but I still have to crunch all the numbers and get everything together. However once it's done, it's done, and I can move on to more fun activities like making art!
As for my artistic endeavors, I am continuing to develop my European economic crisis series of artworks. I have completed 5 pieces so far. I have ideas for at least 3 more. I am also developing new toy soldier works that will have an added twist. So hopefully in 2 or 3 weeks time, I will have them posted to the site.
Otherwise, ArtBasel Miami Beach is just around the corner. In about 14 weeks time, the world's largest and most important international contemporary art fair will descend upon Miami Beach. So the goal at this point is to take care of all my loose ends and make as much new work as possible before the fair arrives. It is going to be a busy next few months to say the least.
